FAQ
Questions We Hear Often.
Answers about venues, packages, food, the bar, planning, and payments.
Getting Started
How do we get started?
Send us a planning request. A venue manager will follow up to set up a tour and share the packages and menus for your venue.
How early should we book?
As early as you can. December dates fill up first. Reach out once you know your headcount.
Can we tour a venue?
Yes. Tours are by appointment. Send a planning request to set one up. We also host open houses a few times a year.
What is an open house?
A relaxed, open-door event. Walk our venues at your own pace, meet some of our favorite vendors, and enjoy some of our favorite light bites. Signature drinks are available at the cash bar.
Do I need to RSVP for an open house?
A free RSVP on Eventbrite helps us plan. Walk-ins are always welcome.
Can wedding vendors come to an open house?
Yes. We love meeting other event pros.
Venues
Is catering included with your venues?
Yes. We are the caterer at all of our venues. The food, the bar, and the venue come from one team and one proposal.
Which venue is best for a big event?
Smith & Co. at the Moto Museum is our biggest. It seats up to 450 for dinner and holds up to 1,000 for a reception.
How big of an event can you host?
Anything from a small meeting to a 1,000-guest reception. Smith & Co. at the Moto Museum seats up to 450 for dinner.
Can we have the ceremony and reception in the same place?

Which venues have get-ready suites?
The Noble and The Barnett both have get-ready suites for wedding parties.
Do you have AV equipment?
Yes, through our partners. That includes projectors, mics, and sound systems.
Packages and Pricing
What is included in every package?
Wedding and social packages include three passed appetizers and a four-hour bar, for a five-hour event. Wedding packages include cake cutting. Social packages include one dessert.
What is not included in the package price?
The venue fee, service charge, admin fee, and tax are extra. Your proposal lists each one.

Yes. You can upgrade entrees, add appetizers, add late-night food, or add bar time.
Can we get a custom menu?
Yes. Custom menus are available. Contact a team member through our planning form for custom pricing.
Is the tip included?
No. Gratuity is not part of your proposal. It is never required, but our team always appreciates it.
How do I get the package builder password?
Ask your venue manager. They will share it with you.
Food and Menus
What is the difference between a buffet and food stations?
A buffet sets dinner out in one place. Food stations spread themed dishes around the room, like a taco station or a St. Louis favorites station. Stations get guests up and mingling.
Can you handle food allergies?
Our menus mark vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free dishes. Tell your venue manager about any allergies early so we can plan for them.
Do you cater outside your own venues?
Yes. We cater at our own venues and at the venue of your choice across St. Louis. Breakfast and box lunch menus are only for events at our venues.
Can you cater at our office?
Yes. We cater at offices and at the venue of your choice across St. Louis. Breakfast and box lunches are only for events at our venues.
Tastings
Do you offer tastings?
Yes, for booked events. Seated (plated) dinners include a private tasting for up to four people. Buffet and food station tastings happen twice a year. Check with your venue manager for the next available date.
When is the next group tasting?

Bar Service
Can you serve alcohol?
Yes. We are licensed to serve anywhere in Missouri. Our bar team, Cocktail Canvas, pours beer, wine, cocktails, and mocktails.
Can you run the bar at an off-site event?
Yes. Cocktail Canvas runs bars at our venues and at off-site events around St. Louis.
Do you make mocktails?
Yes. Just ask. We make them with the same care as our cocktails.
Planning and Your Team
What does your team handle?
The food, the bar, and service staff all come from us. We also order your rentals and manage delivery and setup. For flowers, music, and photos, we can point you to vendors we trust.
Is my venue manager my wedding planner?
No. Your venue manager handles the venue, the food, and the bar. For your full day timeline and outside vendors, hire a day-of coordinator.
Do I need a day-of coordinator?
For weddings, we highly recommend one. A professional day-of coordinator becomes the point of contact for your vendors on the day. That way, you and your partner are not the ones answering vendor questions. They run your timeline, cue the ceremony, and keep the day on track.
Do I need a wedding planner?
No. Many couples plan their wedding themselves, with their venue manager and a day-of coordinator.
Can you recommend a planner?
Yes. Ask your venue manager for planners and day-of coordinators we trust.
Can we bring our own vendors?
Yes. Bring your own photographer, florist, DJ, or planner. Or pick from our list of vendors we trust.
Payments
Who do I make checks out to?
Make every check out to Urban Canvas LLC. Do not write checks to the venue. Put your event date and venue on the memo line. See Payments.
How can I pay?
By credit card (a transaction fee applies), ACH bank transfer ($10 fee), or check payable to Urban Canvas LLC.
When are payments due?
15% at booking, 30% about 6 months out, 30% about 3 months out, and the rest 10 business days before your event. Booking less than 6 months out? More is due at booking. Your contract lists your exact schedule.
Still have a question? Send us a planning request. Booked clients can ask their venue manager.
